To strengthen coordination and networking of LASPs, harmonisation and standardisation of legal aid service provision by the different service providers, lobbying and advocacy to facilitate a favourable legal and policy environment.

UGANDA PUBLIC RESCUE FOUNDATION (UPRF)

UPRF exists to enhance the Knowledge, respect and observance of Human rights and establish a national standardized mechanism for legal aid service of the poor particularly
those facing criminal, civil cases and serious human rights violations in justice system. i.e. becoming the leading provider of legal aid services to ensure access to justice to the poor and vulnerable people so as to promote social development of Uganda..

 

Its vision is to build a strong democratic society in which disadvantaged people have improved access to justice for all in fulfillment of constitutional requirements and a strong democratic human rights culture as a foundation for peace, democracy, sustainable development and social justice in Uganda.

» Objectives

  1. To provide legal aid services to prisoners and other indigent persons.
  2. To offer free legal aid representation to especially indigent persons such as women, youth, men, disabled children and minorities in matters of criminal and civil nature.
  3. To encourage and promote observance and understanding the rule of law and legal protection of human rights.
  4. To support the fight against HIV/AIDS in Uganda.
  5. To act as arbitrators between the offenders and victims in order to promote reconciliation and development.
  6. To promote respect of human rights, implementation of the provisions of universal declaration of human rights, the law and international human rights.
  7. To carry out investigations through private detective agencies and report on matters of Human rights in Uganda.
  8. To promote social and cultural rights in Uganda.
