To strengthen coordination and networking of LASPs, harmonisation and standardisation of legal aid service provision by the different service providers, lobbying and advocacy to facilitate a favourable legal and policy environment.

Community Legal Action and Intergrated Development - COLAID

COLAID strives for the lasting improvements amongst communities with groups of people, advocate for gender equality,
respect for the human rights and promote economic activities in order to have a healthy and productive society .

Its vision is A developed society that respects rights of people.

 

 

» Values

The objectives for which this organization is formed are:

(i) To improve the quality of life of the children, families, and the communities in which they live by making the most efficient use of local skills and resources with the full involvement of the people in their development in a manner that will increase opportunities for cultural understanding, involvement, and concern.

(ii) To enhance the development and improvement of women, men, children and their families by;

a)      Organizing communities in its area of operation.

b)      Carrying out legal awareness sessions within the communities on the prevalent legal rights issues arising.

c)      Advocating for the rights of the vulnerable groups in the community especially people affected by HIV and AIDS.

d)      Networking and establishing positive relations between communities, Government, local leaders and other development agencies (local and international).

e)      Fostering programs for the improvement of skills and professional efficiency in the implementation of the organization’s objectives and general human resources.

f)       Conducting research and training programs with a view of causing change in the socio- economic conditions of the low-income people and or the better realization of the organization’s objectives. Improving the quality of life of women, men, children and people affected by HIV and AIDS and the communities by utilizing the local skills and resources with the involvement of the people.

g)      Provide Legal aid for the indigenous persons and people affected by HIV and AIDS.

h)      Entering into any engagements with any international bodies, Governments or authorities supreme, municipals, local or otherwise, that may seem conducive to the organization’s objectives or any of them; and to obtain from any of such body, Government or Authority, any assistance, assignments; rights privileges or concessions which the organization may think it desirable to obtain, and to carry out such rights, privileges and concessions.
